A veterinary hospital client of mine has almost 40 relatively new Dell Optiplex workstations, all running Windows XP Pro 32bit. We need to install Office 2003 (preferably), maybe 2007 to all of them. We have a Windows 2008 Server R2 64bit and need an Office suite installed on it as well. What is the lowest cost solution for our needs? We see that we might be able to buy 40 copies of Office 2003 OEM Basic for about $120 or more per station at some online software retailers like Softwaremedia.com or eValueSoftware.com, but wonder if these guys are legit and what open or volume licensing costs these days? Volume licensing looks like a very, very expensive option for us and we really do not want to upgrade these computers to Office 2010 because of some compatibility issues with other programs and processes we run on these stations and the server and with our veterinary package.
